Calacatta Viola Marble Slab
Calacatta Viola takes the pale, restrained base typical of Calacatta marble and runs deep burgundy veining through it, with black, grey and cream moving alongside — a considerably bolder result than the classic white-and-grey Calacattas it’s named after.
It suits kitchen benchtops, cladding, flooring and furniture, and works well as a feature slab where the veining itself is the point — a splashback or island benchtop that reads as a single dramatic surface rather than a backdrop.
The burgundy tone comes from iron and manganese oxides trapped in the stone during formation — the same family of minerals responsible for red and pink veining in marbles generally, concentrated here more heavily than in most commercial Calacatta stone.
