Breccia Tortora Marble Slab

Breccia Tortora is a genuine breccia — fragments of older stone naturally cemented together — running brown and grey (‘tortora’ meaning ‘dove grey’ in Italian) through beige and white fragments.

It suits kitchen benchtops, cladding, flooring and furniture, and shares Ceppo Toscano’s naturally fragmented, terrazzo-like look while being classified and sold as a marble breccia rather than a conglomerate.

Breccia forms when angular rock fragments — as opposed to the rounded fragments typical of conglomerate stone like Ceppo — get cemented together by mineral-rich groundwater, producing sharper-edged, more geometric-looking fragments than the smoother, rounder pattern in true conglomerate.
